Hi Julia. Just popping in to say ‘hello.’

The rains have come to Northern California. It’s good but the gray takes me back to Ann Arbor. That lid-on-the-sky feeling.

I went to this horrible thing in SF: Litquake. Bunch of haughty hipsters and a lot of sub-par writing. It has sort of bummed me on the whole space.

And hey, Amanda: I did ‘Infitine Jest’ this summer, too. And I’ve also experienced a weird collapse at the end.

Just a reminder that this is chemo week again and the only thing I live for is reading your column (and maybe my new beef eating). Hint, hint.

I’m reading Karen Armstrong’s The Case for God and David Byrne’s Bicycle Diaries. Nice combo.

I find myself unable to read anything but People mag (and the shorter Vanity Fair articles) since finishing Infinite Jest. I am hopeful that will change in 2010.
