Dang! I was just thinking, 'hey, it would be fun to read about Julia's holiday plans...'

But, I totally understand about not feeling it. And I find that even emails can draw off my fiction energy, so I get that side of it, too.

Thanks for the blogging, Julia! It was always nice to get a glimpse into your life.

xoxo,
Julia

Thank you! Your pictures are lovely. And just the thought of you riding free on Orangey makes me grin. I'll be thinking about that in 2.5 hours when they're putting "The Red Devil" (which is what the NURSES call it, for goodness' sake) in me.

I'll bet the table with the lock box was a fruit stand or something. Or a Kool Aid stand for a kid with a dad who likes making things sturdy?

I had just started doing a series of Behind the Wheel Spanish cds before I got sick, so one of these days I'll be able to read those books!

Love you . . .

Hi Julia. Just popping in to say 'hello.'

The rains have come to Northern California. It's good but the gray takes me back to Ann Arbor. That lid-on-the-sky feeling.

I went to this horrible thing in SF: Litquake. Bunch of haughty hipsters and a lot of sub-par writing. It has sort of bummed me on the whole space.

~~

And hey, Amanda: I did 'Infitine Jest' this summer, too. And I've also experienced a weird collapse at the end.

Just a reminder that this is chemo week again and the only thing I live for is reading your column (and maybe my new beef eating). Hint, hint.

I'm reading Karen Armstrong's The Case for God and David Byrne's Bicycle Diaries. Nice combo.

I find myself unable to read anything but People mag (and the shorter Vanity Fair articles) since finishing Infinite Jest. I am hopeful that will change in 2010.

WOW!! I haven't been here in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGG time!
I saw the pic above of you and Chris. You look GREAT! You lost a bunch of weight (probably two years ago!) and look marvelous! I'm glad for you. Maybe I won't be such a stranger..

Hooray, hooray! I'm so vicariously happy. I would check the Terry bicycle site on line for seats that might work for you. Terry is a woman-owned bike company and they have seats that redistribute weight. Mine actually has a hole in the middle and it's very comfy. They're not cheap, but I've had mine through several bikes now.

Allez, Orangey!

(and thanks for giving in to my whining.)
